Rejoining the LGPS
If you rejoin the LGPS before your deferred pension is paid, you can choose for these deferred benefits to be transferred to your new pension account.
If you ask for that to happen, the membership you built up before 1 April 2008 will buy an amount of pension under the rules of the scheme at the time of the transfer and this will be added to your active pension account. If you don’t make this choice your deferred benefits will be kept separate.
You should take financial advice before doing so, especially if your current job is on a lower salary than the job linked to your deferred benefit.
